Not lonely ... Just alone
It occurs to me how fickle human interaction actually is...
Today I was walking from one class to another in the ice and fog and I overheard a conversation between two young girls. They were discussing shoes. Now, it isnt that I have somethings against shoes. Actually, anyone who has ver been to my house knows that I probably have what could be classified as an "unhealthy" habit of collecting them. This, however, is not the point. The point is that everyone seems to grasp at any sort of commonality in order to somehow identify with another person. Whether it is shoes, the weather, the transit system or politics one would be just as well starting off a conversation with "Wow... you have brown hair? I have brown hair too! Let's be friends!" Really! It is stupid and shallow. Perhaps it is just my inability to find other people in my classes and their surrounding area who share something in common with me. Call me crazy but just because someone has brown hair doesnt make me want to have a meaningful conversation about it with them .

i was at Suite 69 when this guy was trying to hit on me. i wasn't at all interested, but it was pretty clear that the point of the conversation that he initiated is: yes, we are both indeed filipino. he then said something like, "wow. you're flip and i'm flip, we should go out sometime."
uh, yeah.
