Duty Calls
So today I feel like a real Canadian citizen! I'll tell you why!
I woke up and I was immediately cold and I saw snow on the ground but by the time I left the house it was sunny and I was really over-dressed. After I wrote my exam I wandered home and my dad called me. I have been selected for Jury Duty! Yup .. that is right. Someone up there decided to send me to jury selection 3 days after my birthday in the middle of my summer classes. Now I am kind of torn. I could easily get out of jury duty by claiming conflicts with my education; however, I could easily get out of my classes by claiming jury duty! lol Also, I would have a really good story to tell in September.
"What did you do over the summer?" says X.
"I went to Europe" replies Y
"I worked at Starbucks" pipes Z
"I spent all summer in Jury Duty!" I say!
Then the stunned silence will be applauded for the best story ever!
lol .... oh well.

A horse of a different color...
So I have a few things to say ...
First and foremost, "a cow aint nothin' but a heap o' trouble wrapped in a leather bag."
Ok, so now that that is out of the way, a number of strange things have happened to me lately. On Sunday night, my new family and I were out at karaoke and on our way home we passed a very tall white fence blocking off the alley between two older buildings. As we walked by giggling and humming the tune to "lighter man" we heard a voice from above! God? No... It was a man hanging over the top of this huge fence.
"Hey Chicklettes" he called. It seemed an odd turn of phrase considering who we were walking with. Aaron, 6'6'', is anything but a chick-lette!
We turned to face him and he asked affectionately if he could borrow a cigarette. As we looked up, something near the ground caught my eye.
A hand was waving a copy of the ESN (Edmonton Street News for those of you not familiar with the street literature of the inner city). An older man was crouched down by the ground asking people to purchase this paper from behind the white fence.
My attention was, once again, drawn to the top of the fence where the man was in the middle of a very long story, "... so they told us to get off of the Avenue ... so here we are ... off the Ave! hahaha"
Suddenly I felt as though I were Dorothy standing at the gates of the Emerald palace. I had my tin man, my lion and my scarecrow by my side and there was a man offering me a horse of a different color. Unlike Dorothy, I refused the offer and decided to stick with the color of horse that I already have ... Brown isn't so bad after all.
Ok ... So the second strange thing that has happened... (this one isn't as strange as it is stupid)
I have spent the last 3 days making up study notes for my exam today. I managed to complile the best set of study notes ever! They were highlighted perfectly and contained exactly what I needed to know. I was running a little late this morning so I grabbed them off of my dresser and shoved them into my back pocket; a system that has never failed me before. I stopped to get coffee and walked to the meeting place to study. As I approached, I reached for the notes ... they were gone. Drifted into the mess of blown leaves and old McD's cartons are my beautiful study notes ... lost forever.
Ok ... that is all.
